{Engagement} Britney & Chris

Angelita Ballada Esparar Photography specializes in weddings, engagements, boudoir, and family photography in Charlotte, Fayetteville, NC, and Jacksonville, FL Angelita has a wonderful couple with a wonderful story and wonderful words of wisdom of how to have strength during tough times--and geesh they are so photogenic too!

From Britney, "I Met My Perfect Match! 'I’m so glad we both showed up here' is a phrase that is used often in our home. That is exactly how our story began, we both showed up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After a year at the Career Course in Arizona, Chris was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, and after a year of graduate school, I was offered my dream job of teaching 2nd grade in Fayetteville. Chris and I had both just finished the end of two very long chapters of our lives and were finally moving on. In November 2013, my friends talked me into making a Match.com profile and after two very torturous dates, I was ready to give up on that idea. Chris’s friends, who also met through Match.com, talked him into making a profile around the same time and one Friday night, he sent a message to one lucky girl and went on his way. That girl was me! We went on our first date in December 2012. I have never been more nervous for a date in my life! We sat talking for hours and later found out that we had both fallen in love right then and there. It is very true what they say, “when you know, you know.”

We got engaged on our 6 month mark and planning a beautiful June 2014 wedding and were just waiting on the day to come. We got the word that Chris would deploy in February 2014, so, as the Army has taught us, we rolled with the punches and planned a brand new, completely different wedding for December 2013. It was the most gorgeous and perfect day of our lives. Although the military has given us some challenges and kept us apart at times, it is also brought us together in the first place. I am an Army Brat through and through so I am used to the Army Strong way of life but being the wife of a soldier brings on a whole new feeling. Chris has been gone for a month now and although I miss him terribly, he will be back and we will pick up where we left off. We will make it through this because we are given the opportunity to miss the things that we love most about each other. Communication and loyalty is key, two things that we are both very good at. We pray together and let God help us through our struggles as well as relying heavily on our amazing family and friends. Through all of the distance and challenges, we know that our love is truly meant to be and together, we can overcome anything."

{Homecoming} Sgt.Vetter

Aloha from Missy Rich Photography who is based in Oahu, Hawaii. Missy is an Air Fore wife who met her husband in High School 10 years ago and have been together ever since. High school is also where her passion for photography started, but she didn't start her photography business until a few years ago. Before she PCSed to Hawaii she found the Welcome Them Home website and wanted to give back in a special way so she signed up to become a Welcome Them Home photographer.

From Missy, "I had the privilege of capturing a Marine homecoming this past December on MCBH Hawaii. Alie and her two daughters (4 and 1.5) welcomed home Sgt. Vetter from an 8 month deployment. Alie found me through Facebook a few weeks before her husband was coming home, so the morning of the homecoming was the first time I met her and her family. This particular homecoming was super fast paced. The buses were supposed to arrive on base between 8-9am on December 8, 2013, but the buses ended up arriving at 7:30am. We were all rushing to get over there and thankfully made it with a few minutes to spare. As we were waiting for all of the buses to pull up Alie was looking one way towards the first line of buses and I was snapping away. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy run off one of the buses behind us. At this point I had never met Alie's husband before, but for some reason I had a super gut feeling that this was Alie's husband running off the bus. And I was right! As Alie looked in the opposite direction Sgt Vetter snuck up behind her to surprise her. He got her good, she was so surprised, it was super cute!" Thank you Missy for sharing this homecoming, it makes me miss Hawaii so much since I was there in 1999/2000 and haven't been back since. Love the palm tress!

{Real Wedding} Melissa & Robert

I am so happy to be able to share another special wedding from Savannah Weddings For Warriors which is an event that provides free wedding ceremonies and vow renewals to active US Military personnel. They also have a Weddings for Warriars Project Facebook Group. Thank you Diane L. Dodd for sharing these wonderful photos and also participating in this charitable event! If you missed her other Savannah Weddings For Warriors click here.

Sometimes third times a charm and after 5 years of being married Melissa and Robert were able to have their "perfect" wedding! From Melissa, "We met on March 14th 2009 over the internet, and then we met face to face on March 18th 2009. We dated for about 5 months, then on July 7th 2009 Rob proposed to me. He first took me to our favorite restaurant Jalapenos in savannah, then we headed to Tybee Island where we walked down the beach, as we stopped to listen to the waves my husband says to me...”Could you please hold this while I tie my shoe?” As I turned around to see what he was talking about, I looked down and he was holding a box and in the box was my beautiful ring!!! He asked me to marry him!! And all I could say was “you know the answer!" So he then asked me again, and of course I said "yes". We got married on Sept. 6th, 2009 and moved onto Fort Stewart.

In October he went to school then came home in Nov. We had our daughter Isabelle on Nov. 19th, 2009 and 2 weeks later he deployed to Iraq for a year. While he was deployed one night I was watching the news and I heard of the Weddings for Warriors project and how they give back to the military for all their services and everything they do. So I got in contact with Mrs. Becky Byous and somehow she fit me and my husband in at the last minute. We were to be married on Tybee Island.  When Rob came home from Iraq, he had to take classes in the afternoon so I had to come up with some kind of "lie" on how to get him to Tybee Island and surprise him with the wedding, but everything I said didn’t work. So I had to tell him the truth, that we were getting married again and had to get to Tybee asap!! But we ended up being very late, by the time we got there; we had to have our wedding in the middle of everyone’s reception.

After all this time I heard on the news recently that Weddings for Warriors were having another event coming up in 2014 I got in contact with everyone again and filled out the application and when I received the email that we were picked once again, I was in shock so I jumped at the chance. We were not late to this one as you can tell. I am very blessed and very happy to be a part of the Weddings for Warriors event. It was an amazing experience that neither Rob nor I will ever forget. Thank you to everyone at Weddings for Warriors. I was very blessed to have an amazing photographer on this day Jan.15, 2014 that did a wonderful job. Thank you Mrs. Diane for everything!!"
