Julie Staley of Old South Studios and I chatted on the phone about her photography and you can just tell she is the sweetest southern belle! Julie says she is a southern girl through and through. She grew up on sweet tea, saying "yes ma'am and no sir", calling people by name and waving at every car that passed. So it's no surprise that Julie brings that same Southern hospitality to her photography. She is located in Charlotte, NC but will travel. Julie is extremely talented and something that captivated my attention about her work is the SUNFLOWER portrait sessions she does! I'm kinda obsessed with sunflowers so when I sawthese photos I got sucked into her blog! But before you get side tracked make sure you look at Alexis & Lucas' photos and please take some time to watch her video below since it really gives you the whole picture of who Julie Stanley is and what Old South Studios will do for you. Be forewarned, I started tearing up about 1 min into this video!
Now, onto this sweet courthouse wedding!! Alexis and Lucas were high school sweethearts. They became more
serious a couple of years ago and Lucas joined the army soon after. They could only communicate via
letters for months on end while he was away at training and he even
proposed in a letter around Christmas. Late January, Lucas received
news that he would be deployed this year and his commanding officer felt
a wedding later in 2013 would not be possible. So, in true military
wife-to-be fashion, Alexis rallied and put together a wedding in 72
hours, YES, I said 72 hours! I can totally understand that since we planned our wedding in 1 month, but boy oh boy she got it done! They had a small civil ceremony at the
county courthouse then a beautiful, quaint reception at The O’Henry Hotel. When Alexis told Julie their story on Wednesday (48 hours from their
wedding), she knew she had to capture this day for them. What a sacrifice
he is making for our country and she had the best attitude about their
impromptu wedding. Enjoy the images of this old-fashioned kind of love story that Julie captured beautifully!
