Courtney & Grayson have a long love story filled with deployments and accomplishments! Courtney was kind enough to share their story and even though their wedding does not have a sword arch or uniforms, they do have ties to the military. "My
father is a retired Marine, and currently works as a civilian for the Navy out
of Cherry Point, NC. Growing up, I had always said that I would never marry a
military man, simply because I didn't want to move like I did when I was
younger. But God had another plan for me. Grayson and I met in the fall of 2005
while in school at Auburn. Grayson had enlisted with the Marine Corps after
high school and was a Marine Reservist out of Montgomery, AL. Grayson taught me
about the Reserves, and after two years of dating, Grayson was deployed to Haditha,
Iraq in 2007. Communication was not great because the satellites in his area
where often knocked out of commission by storms. He returned stateside in April
of 2008. In the Fall of 2008 I started Pharmacy School at Auburn's Harrison
School of Pharmacy. In June 2009 he was sent for a humanitarian mission to
train military in peacekeeping operations in The Republic of Benin, which is a country in West Africa
that is between Togo and Nigeria. While in Benin, Grayson received a
Certificate of Commendation to recognize his outstanding performance during
this mission. In May of 2012, I graduated Pharmacy School and we got married.
We are now living in Birmingham, AL."
